Hi family and friends! Welcome to my very first blog! This is where you will be able to get all of the latest updates on my missions’ journey, so like and subscribe (never thought I’d say that unironically haha). I know that there are many details I have not discussed with even some of my closest family members and friends. So here we are, brace yourselves for the nitty-gritty!

Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Wow, what a call and promise we have as followers of Christ! Over the past few years, the Lord has been teaching me contentedness and stewardship in the midst of my circumstance. How easy it is to desire more than what I have been graciously given! I vividly remember my prayers in my season of waiting. I prayed for the Lord to reveal His purpose for my life. I just wanted Him to show me the way I was supposed to go (I’m sure my fellow young adults can relate to this lol). I prayed and I waited.. aaand I prayed some more, and I waited some more. I hoped that God would miraculously reveal my ministry to me. After being faced with many forks in the road and decisions to be made (i.e. should I go to college or not? What should I go to college for? Should I go on a mission trip? Where to?), I became paralyzed. Why wasn’t the answer clear? Perhaps I was doing something wrong. Was I not praying hard enough, or not asking the right questions? Why hadn’t I found my calling? After a wrestling period with these questions, the Lord made it so clear. He had already called me to a ministry! I had been so commanding. I wanted God to answer my prayer, but in my humanness, I had a preconceived idea of how he was going to answer me. The Lord had in fact answered my prayer, just not in the way that I had necessarily imagined or desired.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

This scripture is one that has given me much needed peace! There are no coincidences with God. He had placed me in my circumstance, working at Fiddlers coffee (shoutout to Fiddlers, heyyy friends), attending Centralia Community College, and living at home with my family. In my discontentedness, my circumstance seemed boring and small. I thought that surely God had more in store for me than this (no offense to any of the previously mentioned parties, keep reading cuz ur an important part of my story). How ungrateful was this perspective, right?  Despite my thanklessness, God was so faithful to me. He placed me in this season with fatherly wisdom and intent. I was meant to learn and grow and flourish in this very season. My prayer had been answered! I found that I didn’t need to leave the small town to find my purpose, but that I could serve and minister right here in Lewis County. “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much. . .” – Luke 16:10. The Lord had a purpose for me at fiddlers; every customer interaction was an opportunity to be patient, show the love of Christ, and serve others. The Lord had a purpose for me at centralia college; every class I attend is an opportunity to be a good steward of the gifts the Lord has given me. The Lord had a purpose for me living at home with the fam; every dish I washed, sibling I drove to practice, and load of laundry done was an opportunity to humble myself and serve my family. While I was held in this season of waiting and service at home, the Lord was at work preparing my heart for something greater than I could have ever planned on my own accord.

I have been so amazed to find that the Lord still makes a way for the desires that I have buried deep in my heart! No matter what restrictions I seem to find in my circumstance, the Lord still paves a way! While I learned (and am still learning) how to be content in my current season, God has called me to a new chapter that I have always dreamed of, and that is why you are all here reading this! I am going to be embarking on a journey down to Guatemala in June. My squad mates and I will be going down to Gainesville, Georgia in May for training a week prior to our departure to Guatemala, and then will serve in Guatemala for a month! As you can all imagine, I am ecstatic about everything this trip will have in store. I can’t wait to travel, experience a new culture, and see how the Lord is moving in a different community!

How can you help the cause? I would greatly appreciate prayers for peace as I prepare for this new season, as there are many unknowns. This will be my first time traveling out of the U.S. and there will most definitely be some culture shock. Additionally, as a partner with the World Race I need to fundraise $3,300 for my trip. This money will cover all of my basic needs while I am in the field (flights, living expenses like food and housing, etc.). Every little bit helps!

Thanks for joining me on this new adventure, it’s going to be a wild ride!

Hablamos luego!

Sophie

So glad you’re here! A little about me: In my free time I enjoy all things music and dancing. One of my favorite pastimes is going ballroom dancing with my brother! I am currently working towards earning my RN. I plan to start my nursing program in the fall of 2025, but in the meantime, I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for me and my squad mates in the mission field!
